MARGIE DARROW - VISUAL ARTIST
My
fascination of the symbiotic relationships between wildlife and its deep connection
with human nature, historical and contemporary cultures and its effect on
the constant circle
of life has been the inspiration of my artwork. Like in nature, I place an
emphasis on color,
unity and movement. The color palette is built up of many transparent layers
of colors and sets the emotional tone of the art. This depth of color creates
the dreamy inter-lit quality that
has become a signature in my work.
Expanding
from my beginnings in illustration and as an acrylic painter, I have
branched out into a wide range of creative formats, endeavors and collaborations.
Experimentation is an important component of my art-making process. I enjoy
research
and developing new techniques and ideas. I create unusual three-dimensional
wood wall pieces that accentuate shape, light and shadow. In addition, I have
formed
a variety of collaborations to create many successful projects, such as
mixed media sculptures for public art, live art performances,
educational material, teaching engagements and book projects.
My artwork has been exhibited in respected venues locally, nationally
and internationally and I have received recognition in the form of awards
and
several fellowship grants and opportunities.
In
the community I stay active in many projects, as a leader and a volunteer.
I feel it important to utilize my artistic abilities to influence a positive
awareness to lead others into action.
